Ya gotta love the whining in the first thirty nine lines of this article.... Then the school district admits that it planned for these cuts, that there is enuf money for this year and next... EGADS.. When will the cry for more money stop from the schools and get down to teaching.. Except for the special needs kids, why do they need ANY busing at all.. Let the flabby spoiled kids get off their duffs and walk or bike to school...

Hmmmmm... Have you looked at the bus schedule (available on the school district website) lately to check how far those "flabby spoiled kids" would have to walk/bike?

How long does it take a Kindergartener to walk from Whisman Park to Huff, or Castro to Bubb? And who is going to monitor that child while crossing El Camino or Central/the Caltrain tracks?

Why don't they charge to ride the bus? I know a lot of school districts that are charging and to be honest, it is cheaper than paying for the gas in my car. I spend 1 1/2 hours in the morning and 1 1/2 in the afternoon driving my kids to 3 different schools (not including the wait time for the kids to be released from school). From the looks of where my daughter goes to middle school, those kids are the last ones to be called spoiled. We live on Moffett it is 3-4 miles each way to their schools. The state I moved from did not bus kids if they lived with in 1 mile of the school and also charged the other kids to ride the bus. It was 0.50 each way. The kids on free/reduced lunch rode for free or at a reduced rate.
