In the past, the Mountain View voice posted that the salary AND benefits packages for CEO's of the same type and size as El Camino Hospital came to a combined total of $750,000.00. So by that reasoning, the CEO of El Camino Hospital is making at least 50% more than others in the same position; while at the same time the actual caregivers have seen their ranks cut. The RN's at El Camino Hospital were not given the same raises negotiated by the SEIU and only received 3.5% spread out over two years, which doesn't keep up with the inflation we have seen, and have had increases in the costs of their healthcare benefits as well. While a patient of the hospital this past March, I observed firsthand how harried the staff are and how little support that they received in attempting to provide the highest level of care that they can. It is a shame as that hospital was once the very best in the entire greater bay area, and indeed in 2000 it was the best in the nation.
