Synthetic wears and looks bad after one season while grass will grow and is self healing. What happen to all the environment concerns? Plant a tree or plant some grass? There is also a problem known as turf toe, do we want our kids being injured instead of the grass?

Re: Synthetic beats Real in turf debate- Let me get this straight, They're ~$400K short on the playing fields budget yet using natural turf would save $675K in initial costs and artificial turf needs to be replaced every 10 years for $1 Million? Not to mention the increased sports injuries on artificial turf and the fact that the Burrowing Owls can't use it. Seems like the Council and Staff didn't use any brains on what should have been a "no-brainer". Or is somebody's brother-in-law an artificial turf contractor?
