it would be nice the day guns will be banned. I totally understand this "right to bear weapons" but how about our right to stay alive? fed up about those shootings:(

What a tragic story, especially for the families of the dead and wounded. One wonders what makes people snap like that and if anything can be done to prevent it. Maybe, maybe not. Other countries with fewer guns in circulation seem to have fewer shootings.

Gisel, man has been finding way to harm his fellow man since he could first pick up a stick. Taking away firearms won't do anything except remove an avenue for the weak to defend themselves. Even those who are strong can easily be overcome and should have the right to defend themselves. Believe it or not firearms in the hands of rational citizens might have been able to keep this rampage from being as deadly as it was. I'm sure the woman he shot would've loved to have been able to defend herself from a person who had lost touch rational thought.

Take a look at all of the states that allow responsible citizens to go through extensive background checks to legally carry a weapon concealed. Those citizens also subject themselves to harsher repercussions than the non-carrying public if they act inappropriately. People who choose to legally carry should not be feared by anyone other than those who choose not to follow society's laws.

I suspect nearly every person the police kill is a civilian.
I am certain that the police have killed less than the "civilians" have killed.

It has been illegal to possess or use narcotics for decades and you can get drugs everywhere. It is illegal to talk on a cell phone without a headset in CA yet you see people driving holding phones to their ears all the time. Chicago has an outright ban on handguns for 20 years and there are handguns everywhere.

A gun ban simply wouldn't work and would create a weapons black market just like narcotics. If you banned them tomorrow, there would still be guns everywhere.

Also, just because you don't own a gun doesn't mean others are like you. Outside of "blue" cities almost everyone owns a gun of some sort in the US.

It is true that guns kill people. So do cars, cigarettes, alcohol, knives. It always seems easy to call for a ban on something that you do not have or participate in.

I agree with another's person opinion. Guns should be banned for the common citizen.
The right to bear arms was written a long time ago. Look at all the shootings that happened in the world this year. Oslo was part of them. The gun that was used in Oslo was confiscated in Belgium four years ago for the shooting of a babysitter in Brussels.

Yes, the banning would maybe make it worse, but alcohol, cigarettes, drugs don't kill people instantly. Using them are entirely up the person's decision. They don't harm a whole community instantly.
A gun can kill 10 people in 2 minutes. Look at the guy who killed his wife and all the patrons in a Hair Salon in Southern California. The bearing of guns should be more restricted. PERIOD.

Great. Now we won't be wasting money on a needless trial. The guy killed himself. A coward indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!
