After delays, work begins on mobile home park

Construction crews began work earlier this month shoring up the river banks on a portion of Stevens Creek that runs behind a Mountain View mobile home park.

What? They didn't get National Highway Transportation Safety Administration approval? They're in big trouble now.

While I feel bad for the folks that were effected by the landslide I must say that I do not support the repairs that are planned.

Once again people and property are placed before the health of our creeks and the fish and wildlife that use these corridors.

If development had not been allowed so close to the creek this would not have happened. The right thing to do would be to move the park way back from the creek and give the creek back some of its floodplain.

The bank hardening planned will provide only a temporary solution because in the end the stream always wins. Flooding is a natural process which should be respected.
