Thanks Google! Google is very supportive of Bubb school too! The employees who help with field day are terrific and so friendly. You are greatly appreciated.

If I got one I might see if gizmodo.com wants to buy them. Buried in the hard disk may be some future google products worth knowing about. :)

Thanks, Google. Will you also provide tech support, anti-virus software, automated backups and everything else the schools need to make the hardware work safely and reliably? Most schools that I know are overwhelmed by these issues and the result is a lot of insecure and infected computers that are more of a liability than an asset in a year or two.

Most of the IT department workers seem know how to do complete disk wipes and reinstalls - often over the networks. In the middle schools I usually see a fleet of similar machines (last 2 generations of iMacs or iBooks.) With a few common sets of disk images - it's not that hard to totally gut (digitally) a drive and install a completely new disk image.
Teacher scrounged (or remnant 3rd generation) machines not connected to the internet are not really mission critical machines [or are there hackers really working on Microsoft XP hacks ???]

@Mikey
Come on Mikey, would you rather they recycle the used laptops? If they're nicer than what the schools already have then it IS a good thing. Far from the only good thing they've done for local schools anyway. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth... its rude!
