78 year olds driving on the roads is like suicide bombers. There is a danger. We all know people at any age can get violently sick or something can go wrong in a second. It is more prone for this kind of thing happening at ages like 78. I am glad no one else got hurt. Its irresponsible that people at that age drive. Now, don't jump on me. She may have no one else to take her to places and she might have been completely fit till that time of the incident.

I think that driver's licenses should follow more along the lines of pilot's licenses. Each time renewed should come health checks. For instance, if your blood pressure is too high, your pilot's license is suspended until you get it under control; and then it's re-instated.

It's not discrimination. It's about safety. Same for driver's licenses.

I'd bet the bank more people with illegal licenses cause more accidents than people in their 70's. I bet most 70 yr olds drive better than most of those crying to get their licenses taken away.

Yep, statistically teen drivers are the ticking time bombs, senior drivers are generally safer drivers and involved in _far_ fewer accidents and fatalities. If jupiterk had checked the facts he probably wouldn't have posted as he did, but he if he reads these posts, he'll be more educated about drivers stats, so that's a plus.
