Close the Monte Carlo - it's overdue. The people of Mountain View do not patronize it and it detracts from our City. Time to exercise eminent domain (I never thought I would say that) on it and have it converted into an art house movie theater with a wine bar, coffee house or restaurent. There are none between Palo Alto and San Jose.

I agree. Shut the Monte Carlo down. It's been nothing but trouble over the years. Just one incident after another.

Wait for a murder, then close it. We don't want to offend the "you are all racists" poster.

To the other previous posters: I agree %100. And to Dave: Unfortunately, a murder is just what it *would* take to get that cesspool closed down. Why do they only put up a stop sign, for example, AFTER someone is run over? It makes no sense at all. The Monte Carlo location used to *be* a classic-looking movie venue, back in the day, and bringing that back would only bring more business and prosperity to Mountain View, provide a family outing location that is sorely needed in Central Mountain View, and would pretty much eliminate the criminal element that surrounds The Monte Carlo like a shroud of menace.
How many of YOU would, if you had a choice, venture out to the parking lot in back of The Monte Carlo Club at night? I wouldn't either. But no one should *have* to worry about that kind of nonsense, in our city. We, as citizens, should petition to get the place closed down as a hazard to the public.

"Neither the victim not his girlfriend were able to give officers much of a description of their robbers"
Just use the descriptions from every other article on the Monte Carlo such as the one from Monday's article: "5-foot-7-inch Hispanic man in his late 20s, dressed in a black shirt and blue jeans."

The time has come to shut this place down. Enough is enough. Take the trash out so the citizens can once again walk down Castro St without a threat of being jumped by some clown or group of clowns.
The Monte Carlo has been nothing but trouble since the day it opened it's doors.
