I'm annoyed that MV Voice is closing the comments for the two other theft articles. Actually, the comments are more interesting than the article. MV Reader - why are you surprised that they deleted Jesse's comment? You are the one who flagged it. Although I wasn't able so see his comment, I have an idea of what he might have said. MV Voice should do an article on race and crime in MV. I'd like to see what the percentages are for arrests based on race in MV. I really am curious to see how Jesse's comment holds up. If you think he's wrong, prove it.

I, too, am annoyed that the comments are being closed. Seems that people might be getting a bit upset that our community is suddenly becoming a haven for burglars and want to express those feelings. But I guess it's not politically correct to make any kind of connection with the rising amount of illegal activities in MV and the fact that we have become a "Sanctuary City". We have become inundated with illegal immigrants and support them with the "Day Worker Center". Since we, as a city, don't seem to follow the laws that have been put into place to protect it's citizens, then sure, we are going to become a haven for anyone that wants to come here. I know that everyone is again going to argue that the DWC is full of hard-working people just trying to get by. Yes, that might be true, but there is also an unsavory element that will also show up once a city becomes a "Sanctuary", and I guess that we just have to put up or shut up, huh? Until MV gets tougher on crime and illegal immigrants, this type of behavior will continue. Welcome to the "New Mountain View". Oh, and Mr. Veronin, if you don't like the comments, stop writing the articles. But I have a better idea - let the MV concerned citizens "voice" how they really feel about the direction our town is headed.
