Great Job. It shows how well trained our police our and how the city is willing to seek out good people to be our officers. The level of professionalism is shown here. If it was me I would have released that dog to tear that kid up and then used the stun gun just to make a point. Great job!!!
Too bad the kid is just going to get grounded for his bad behavior.

Great job MV police! Hopefully the boy will get more than being grounded. He needs to do a little time. He is a ticking time bomb and a danger to the community. Next time it could be a gun.
He should also have to do some community service and be made to pay for the damage he's done. Drugs or not, there is NO EXCUSE for his behavior.

@Jesse, the Day Worker Center is at the end of Escuela near the railroad tracks. You could look up the address of the center and locate it on a Google map, then bookmark that page. Refer to it whenever you read about a crime in Mountain View and then you won't need to ask this question everytime. Just enter the address of the incident into the directions section of the map page and check for yourself. Amazingly enough, crime happens with or without the Day Worker Center, and near or far from the Day Worker Center. Note that the article stated that this happened close to midnight. That is long after the Day Worker Center is closed for the day.

What a twit!! Geez, can't a person work their job without fearing for their lives? I hope the clerk is ok and seems like the police did a good job. You don't always know exactly who you are dealing with in a situation like this. Glad they brought the K9 Police! I agree the youth should do Community Service!! Pay back with his time and money all that was destroyed. And start right away!!

This young adult should be charged as an ADULT... Forget the goodie goodie treatment of Juvy. Hall.
I suggest that all of us e mail the District Attorney to charge this maniac as an ADULT.. Let him do a brief stint in the prison system and see how that goes....

I used to live in that neighborhood. Moved about 2 yrs ago. Glad I got out, things are going downhill.
PS to the bigot who asked about the Day Worker Center. I used to live right next to the old Center (corner of California & Escuela) and they were good, quiet neighbors. They do good work too.

I think the kid should spend some time in Juvenile Hall, and then work off the debt he incurred. Those of you that think that's not enough for this kid, might want to reference the recent case where the woman killed the pedestrian in the crosswalk, left the scene, and ended up with no jail time. I don't understand how we can argue that killing someone deserves no jail time, but property damage is a jailable offense.

So... perhaps the kid is mentally ill. Anyone ever think that he might need help? Maybe he's a bad seed. Maybe not. Point is, none of us know if he's a criminal in need of punishment/rehabilitation, or a sick kid in need of treatment.

Observer - good point. This goes beyond teen rebellion behavior and looks like a serious mental (schizophrenia?) or drug problem. Thankfully no one was seriously harmed. I feel sorry for the store clerk and owners to suffer this trauma and loss of property. I hope this teen has family/guardians who are aware of his problems and will help him follow through with treatment.

He's not mentally I'll. And he doesn't deserve more than juvy. He didn't hurt anyone! Treated as an adult really? But when some one kills their daughter all she deserved was three years. Calm down people

Maria, your right he's not mentally ill, but he does deserve more than juvy....how bout paying for his damages to the store owner? Your really going to make the comparison of this crime to a murder??? The difference is this punk was caught on surveillance committing his crime. Also, he did try to hurt someone, the clerk. Why else did he strike the office door the clerk was hiding?
