"When they went to investigate they found the window, which they said had been closed and locked, was open, the screen was removed and the blinds had been ripped from where they hung in the window frame."

"Police found no sign of forced entry."

These two statements don't correlate.

Typically, the screen would be removed from the *outside* to provide greater access to the window frame for jimmying open. I'm willing to accept that the blinds *may* have been ripped down during a hasty retreat, but since the screen was "removed" and not bent or destroyed, it's pretty easy to ascertain that entry was from the window, even though locked, and these thieves knew what they were doing. But then, what do *I* know? I'm only a certified private investigator who works in the security industry designing systems to keep people like this out. C'mon, MVPD...You really need to up your standards for your investigative staff. Geez.

Is this near the Day Worker Center?

@Jesse:

Based on a quick online map search, the answer is no.

As usual, "The Eye" comes off like a pretty armature detective. Many window types cannot be easily jimmied. If this is one such common window, that would explain the police statement that it did not look like forced entry. Your explanation would have the burglar come in the bedroom window, go to the kitchen and get the milk, go back to the bedroom to ransack, and then happen to be by the same entry point when the owners came back. More likely, burglar came in some other way, grabbed milk on way through kitchen, found the bedroom to ransack it, and then quickly fled out the closest window then the owners came home, removing the screen and damaging the blinds in the process. But hey, like you said, what do *you* know.

I would suggest a background and financial check on this couple. Didn't they here the guy/guys/gal/gals going out the window? Did they run outside to see who or if someone was around the place ? Were the jewelry items in the duffel bag (great hiding place).. Why did they leave without their cell phone ? Why did they leave a wallet with #1,000.00 in cash at home ?
Lots of funny stuff going on here.. Finger prints on the Milk Container? Refridg. door ? Window, blinds.... lots to look into, but I doubt if MVPD will have or use the powers of CSI to solve this one..
Hmmmm could be a movie of the week...

@Ron:

"a pretty armature detective" The word is *amateur*, genius. And I have agency working experience, and a certificate to show it. As usual, you got squat. Go play somewhere else. Oh, and pick up a dictionary while you're at it.

800 block of E. El Camino Real is near Sylvan. I assume that it is the Archstone apartments, which are the only residences on the 800 block of E El Camino.

Yeah you got me. I typo'd and let the spell check correct to the wrong word. Whatever. Attacking someones spelling on a comment board is a well known desperation move on the internet for those who have nothing else to come back with.

Point is, you skipped all of my points. You attack the MVPD while having no decent analysis of your own. It's YOU who have "squat" (and this time the term is use in proper context).

If one DOES assume there is something wrong with the case as stated, GEORGE above has a MUCH more plausible explanation than you do, although it could also be as simple as I described as well.

My point is that you like to attack the MVPD, but often your theories in doing so make little logical sense.
