My only surprise is, that it hasn't been robbed more times.

I live very close to this store, happen to know the owner and knew the previous one. This store is much nicer than the old owner kept it and the new owner is also much nicer. With that said, the neighborhood can be a crime ridden one, as can the area around the other 7-11 on Latham. It has always been the bad part of our city and the only way to fix it is for the good people around here to help the police keep an eye on it. We probably need an increased police presence as well, but even if you don't see them, they are sneaking around many times watching the bad guys. I had a friend who worked for the old owner for many years and the police would come by and take breaks there a lot. There were still problems even when the cops were around. We have to not tolerate people being criminals around us and give our police any help we can to get the crime rate down. They can't do it alone and have always asked us to help. Would you commit a crime with the cops around? Of course not. The average criminal won't either. Where do these people live? They aren't my friends and family or neighbors, but they are to someone. Don't let your friends and family be criminals. If they can't be good people, then sadly you need to turn them in to the police as they are only making life miserable for others. We can't afford to ignore crime because someone is a friend or family member and we don't want to get them in trouble. If we can't get them to behave, they don't deserve to have our friendship or family ties. They don't care enough about us to behave and there is no honor in turning a blind eye to their behavior. Let's all start at home with teaching good values and live the example. Put the good of your children first, teach them to be good people and they will be the change we need. It is the parents job first and not the system they move through, but if this doesn't happen, then the rest of us need to help our young people learn the right things. They won't end up criminals if we treat them well and give them the help they need to live a good life. Someone out there must be doing it right. We have lots of young people in our military who will tell you it is an honor to serve their country and this is at a time when most of us want nothing to do with it. Get together in your neighborhoods and get to be one big family who takes care of each other and looks out for the good of everyone. We can live with crime or make it go away, the choice is ours, not the police or politicians. They are there to help and we can help them, but it is up to us to decide how we want to live.
