7-Eleven on Escuela need less to say more. Its hard to imagine that all these criminals and illegal activities happen around an elementary school!!!

The PD is quick to point out that everyone should give in to thugs but when you are in a situation you're adrenaline takes over. I've been there and felt it. I'm glad she wasn't injured more than she was but people should really aware of their surroundings. You wouldn't catch me anywhere near that intersection or the ghetto down the street.

Yes, when is the city and/or PD going to wake up and clean up this area near the school?
After a teacher or student is injured or killed?
Guess they don't care since it's summer

MVPD obviously can't handle it, but they can't be everywhere.
Aviso a street thugs and muggers-
15+1 180gr JHPs will most definitely adjust your attitude.
Choose your next victims in that barrio very carefully. VERY carefully
sabes que? si quiere jugar, tiene pagar.

If one would pay attention to the weekly crime report, more than likely there is a crime on Escuela. Where is the police presence? If there are constant crimes on this street, which there are, why are the police not patrolling contantly? Especailly since there is a scool in the neighborhood. Get with it MV Police.

Mtnview and many california towns/cities are soft on crimes. In fact they reward criminals especially if they are here illegally. The city council, mayors all want to make their cities and towns as refuge for criminals and illegals. If people don't like crime, they need throw their incumbent city council members, congressmen/women,mayor,etc..

@ whocares
"Well she had no bank card and no money so im gonna guess that she wasn't going to the early shift at her work" - really? lets work on our reading comprehension
"A woman was mugged and punched in the face early Monday morning as she walked to work, police said."
The story was about a mugging - NOT what the woman had in her purse.

You can see the reported crimes overlaid on a map here: Web Link
Just enter "Mountain View, CA" in the search box and you'll see what is going on in our city. I was surprised at how evenly spread crime is.

The Supreme Court has ruled on a number of occasions that the police do not have a constitutional duty to protect an individual e.g. Castle Rock vs Gonzales (Web Link and Warren vs District of Columbia (Web Link
Self defense and self protection is up to the individual. Sadly this victim demonstrated zero situational awareness, and apparently possessed to means to effectively protect herself. In reality, even if the MVPD were required to provide her protection it is doubtful that they could have done much about this situation.

Where was rookie cop now? Probably giving someone a ticket for slowing down, instead of coming to a complete stop on an intersection, where ther was no traffic? More than likely! You gonna earn that $300, boy!! If you live! Now that 30,000 felons have been released in CA! LOL

Pretty distressing comments about the victim's role. There are alot of legitement reasons someone would be walking in the early AM.
Mountain View has a crime problem, and we're all supposed to rely on the MVPD for protection. Unfortunately, they're preoccupied raising revenue by writing BS tickets instead of concentrating on activites trashing our city. Not saying they should ignore traffic laws, just prioritize their crime fighting efforts in order of importance. Staking out industrial areas for 'California stops' is NOT an appropriate use of our apparently inadequate police resources

please, if anyone is writing "C.S." tickets (thats chicken----, friends) its Los Altos PD. Not even Palo Alto PD is that petty. I lived in Paly for 11 years, and I see more people pulled over on El Camino by LAPD in a week than I'd see in PA in six months.
And I almost never see anyone driving "crazy" or "dangerous" or even more than a few miles above the speed limit.
Since they are always trolling in apt and closed business parking lots along El Camino, we should let LAPD roll through the Triangle Diablo-- Escuela 7-11, Rengstorff 7-11, and Escuela east of California.
Unless of course, LAPD would prefer to stay on the JV squad and continue writing tickets for going 6mph over the limit and responding to noise complaints.

@MartinO...
Just adjust the search to violent crimes and expand the search time to the max... the trends become very clear. Along ECR, along Castro, plus the area mentioned here are trouble spots. ECR and Downtown is failry normal for business districts, but the Assaults with a deadly weapon and sexual assaults along Latham north of Escuala to Rengstorff park BEG for more patrols.
