Minimally Qualifed Teachers at MVWSD Middle Schools

Original post made by MVWSD Watchdog, Old Mountain View, on Jun 1, 2011

I encourage all parents to research the credentials of their children's teachers. Some results are shocking. One 8th grade social science teacher can't even meet the requirements for the required credential. One math teacher is listed as not even having a credential. There are highly qualified teachers, but on average they tend to be non-tenured. The following link will allow parents to be informed. This is why the tool is made available by the state. Here is the link.

How can they keep teachers who aren't properly credentialed? With all the qualified teachers looking for jobs, it doesn't make any sense.

Great link. Here's what I found when I queried the head of the math department at Whisman's Graham middle school. If you look at the bottom you will see the only credential, an emergency substitute credential, is only good for 30 days of instruction!?! And then what happens? And the district has gone on record as saying there is a problem with math at the middle school level. It doesn't get much worse than this! This is as good as we can do!?! And here we are in the middle of Silicon Valley, the high-tech math-based center of the world!?!

It looks like the school district is operating along the lines of the Day Worker Center!
