I'd like to know the names of some good, fairly priced home contractors, companies, professionals: house painters, plumbers, kitchen & bath remodelers, roofers, landscapers, window replacement companies, window cleaners, companies who will put stucco siding up, termite tenters, etc
Past bad experiences have made me gun-shy about fixing up my house and I'd love to know some good professionals to call.
I hope people will use this opportunity to share their good experiences with home contractors. Thank you

Duh. Try the Day Worker Center for all your contracting needs. They're cheap and you don't need to worry about permits or codes! And the city certainly doesn't regulate their work. In fact, they actively support it!

Day Workers? Yelp? Gee, thanks for the "neighborly" advice. By the way, the worst nightmare of a plumber I ever met got 5 stars on Yelp. And I'm not naming names.
