Los Altos library will charge fee for non-residents

Original post made by curious, Cuesta Park, on May 17, 2011

from the library website:
"SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. ‑ In response to dramatic reductions in State funding and an increasing demand for library services, on Thursday, April 28, 2011 the Santa Clara County Library District Joint Powers Authority approved an $80 annual library card fee for non-residents of the District, effective July 1, 2011."

Do they seriously think they will raise any money with this fee? This is like the fee the airlines tried to charge for sodas. No one paid but they swill them down when they are free. LOL Free library service is a constitutional right like free medical care and free parking.

I will take my business elsewhere but probably not to the Mtn View library. Its OK but the parking is atrocious.

But I do think it is time for the Mountain View library to charge a fee to residents of Los Altos and LAH in retaliation.

BTW, I wonder if illegals are exempt from this fee just like they are exempt from our other laws?
