In this day and age it is rare to find a person who is willing to accept that they have made a mistake. I urge you (Tommy) to put yourself in her shoes, try to see the situation from her point of view. It was an accident, one she will never forget, in prison or out of prison. She will always have the guilt of this accident on her mind and in her heart. Lastly, it could be you next time, as you drive down the road as you normally do, a bump in the road might cause you to have just such an accident. The justice system worked and humanity took a step forward.

Felony hit and run and you get out of jail free? This is beyond words. I've seen people go to jail for doing far less criminal things. This is a joke that isn't funny.

Regardless of what occurred in this case, drivers tend to move too fast around town for existing conditions by and large. For example, 25 mph is too fast for downtown along Castro Street (although that is what is posted). And try to stop your car to allow pedestrians to cross Shoreline (legally, using crosswalks) and see how may cars behind you flash lights, honk horns, or swerve into other lanes rather than stop as required by the law. Trying this with another car directly behind you could be considered downright suicidal.z8mHt

Take a good look drivers. As you sped about with your "Me First" attitude you run dangerously close to ending up just like this woman.
Slow down to the speed limit, use your turn signals (ALWAYS) and quit playing that stupid "I just need to get in front of that guy at all costs" game.

What? WHAT? No it's not. You run someone over, you stop, call emergency personnel, and render appropriate aid, and STAY AT THE SCENE. You DO NOT drive 40 minutes home to Saratoga! What is going on here? No jail time and loses her license for 1 year? This woman should never be allowed to drive again. THIS IS JUST WRONG!!!

Shes not some shade brown and has money of course its a slap on the wrist. I find it hardly shocking for the occasionally a thumb to find its way onto the scales of justice. Perhaps this woman deserves a break after all it is very easy to make a judgement without all the facts that being said its always interesting to see how Justice and Socio-Economics play out.

One year is what this man's life is worth? That is ludicrous. People go to jail a lot longer for misdemeanors.

Looks like Keibon son got the same justice as a white woman or a jewish woman would face under similar circumstance. based on this judgement , my guess would be the deceased victim is not white. May be the deceased age was a factor in the judgement. But then any nicer judgement, Keibon Son would get a year's worth of free treatment at a luxury spa.

I have to say that she is getting of very light, this will not help slow people down. I do a lot of walking in Mountain View and find that drivers, most not all, have very little regard for people walking. Not many seem to know that the cross walk cannot be entered by a car when people are in the crosswalk. Also unmarked crosswalks which exist at every corner have the same rules. I wish the police would hand out tickets to these drivers.

I think we need a real D.A.

A hit & run resulting in death is a horrible crime. She showed absolutely no regard for that man's life. At the very least, her driving privileges should be suspended for life.

I think we need a new deputy district attorney as well, as Katrina Ohde thinks our lives are worthless.

Someone's loved one was just crushed to death, and left to die alone without a chance for help, by this brainless driver.

This is because it's a woman. Have you seen the hypocrisy when it comes to statutory rape in our schools too? Had this been a man they would have thrown the book at him, and his wife who convinced him to turn himself in, would be the hero.

Who cares what the police think. The police botch many things and they're not exactly the smartest tools in the shed(don't you just need a HS diploma?). Let the lawyers exact a financial punishment against the driver and her family that will compensate the Hispanic man who was killed.
