Hacking the wind

Silicon Valley's geek ethos, which views problem-solving more as recreation than responsibility, propelled a Mountain View man to build a machine capable of doing something scientists said was impossible.

I went to their web site and checked out some of the YouTube videos. This has to be one of the coolest things I've seen in the past year. They went about 50 mph directly downwind in a 20 mph wind. They're working on another cart that will do something similar but directly upwind.

Sportvision did not do it for charity. It expects a stake in any of the technology that comes from this. That's how the Silicon Valley works. :-)
