But will there be a Caltrain in 2020 to bring those millions of visitors from San Francisco Airport and San José Airport to Mountain View? Not according to the drastic cut plans! A shame!

Bay Area Council and its likes know how to make up great lies so that they can profit millions by coming up great projections. History shows these guys are snake oil salesman or used car salesman of the worst kind.

A World Expo could permanently change the fact that "it's an area where there is no there there, for tourists -- a place to draw people."

That's exactly what I was thinking. There's no there here.

The world Expo plan is just another Moffet Field land grab, following in the tradition of the "toxic hangar one" scare.

And we are going to fly how many of the 25M visitors to SFO just to see this boondoggle. What an incredible waste of oil and other limited resources.

Do you want Shoreline District bonds (4 council votes) to help fund transportation improvements and divert more money from schools? (some do, ask Don L.). I would strictly oppose this unless the local schools are held harmless (statute change) from the direct and immediate harm that further or increased tax diversions would have on students. The Joint Powers Authority (that now shares about 8% of the 99% diverted taxes) must pay off bonds first according to the contract with the schools. Future 'bonded debt' for helping finance this Expo should NOT come from school revenue diversions for the next 30 years.
If this is as good an investment as the Google hotel - this Expo should find a large amount of private/company financing, independent of funds that should go to schools.
End redevelopment districts - support Gov. Brown's budget.

Moeny will come from a Public Private Partenship, Nations, States, Comapnies will get on board, they have been having World Expo's since the 1756 the first one was in London, one of the greatest fair was in St Louis (19040, Chicago (1893), New York had 2 in the 20th century (1929 and 1964) San Francsco had 3 (1894, 1915 and 1939) and of course Seattle (1962). They left landmarks, colleges, museums, parks, plkaces that are seen in movies, read about and in song.

Do it right with lots of corporate funding and it could be a great idea. Do it wrong and it will do more damage than good. The idea is good, but at what public cost? Work out the details and show a solid plan to the public, then if you can get the support, go for it.
