The LA school district has a 50% dropout rate. At a time when many professional jobs require at least a masters degree, half the people entering the workforce in LA do not have even a high school diploma. I could point out the demographics of failure in LA, but we all know it already.

Jorge, go get your house in order before you come up here and whine about how our tech companies are not hiring your people who don't even bother to learn our language. You can start by watching Stand and Deliver. Yes you can.

These protesters really have to get it's more racist to give race based freebies than to be allow businesses to be competence based.

These types of business practices undermine job opportunities for Americans (this includes YOU) who pay taxes and work hard to gain educations only to find there are not any jobs available.

Nearly half of all American engineering and science students find work outside of engineering and science, when they graduate from college. Is this because they were not good enough?

The protest by these Blacks, Asians and Latinos was not about playing the race card or being hired based on the color of their skin. They have systematically and historically been shut out of the job market without justification or accountability. If whites are being displaced by these practices the situation will be far worse moving forward.

No one is asking for any freebies or consideration based on color. Billions in tax payer dollars are being used to fund federal contracts these companies receive. They have a legal obligation to report this information but just like the banks were too big to fail they are too big to comply.

@Supporter. Total nonsense. It's an open market. No one is shutting anyone out. They should be allowed to hire whomever they want and graduates should be free to decide where they want to apply for jobs. If you want guaranteed income, apply to the govt.

I don't see how the protesters can claim Google discriminates. The EEOC, which reviews the reports, doesn't seem to think so. The protesters can call for more transparency in hiring, however. It's ironic that Google doesn't want to publish their own numbers when their goal is to aggregate and organize the world's information.

They're barking up the wrong tree. Age discrimination is where the fish are biting here in Silicon Valley.

THats right. They have the right to refuse service to customers unwilling to abide by their rules and customers have the right to not purchase. That's why it's voluntary exchange. Both parties expect to benefit. You have no point other than to argue for the use of coercion. That's why you have a silly argument. You only want coercion when it will benefit you and hurt others.

El Camino Hospital want to hire only Chinese speaking and culturally aware doctors, so what's the difference? Oh, I forgot, that's different.

That's not the issue. The issue is possible discrimination and transparency in hiring practices. You cannot discriminate. Period. If you think you can, try it and see how that works out.

Supporter. Of course there are always qualifications to voluntary exchange and doing whatever you want. (like you cant hurt other people or their property) You stated that certain groups are being excluded without offering any information other than the fact Google gets to choose who they hire and some people work in areas outside their training. You need to back up your claim that Google is not hiring the best qualified workers and intentionally excluding better qualified candidates. In other words, are they choosing less qualified candidates to lower their profits.
