Two words for you, MVPD: Inside job.

Check out the "friend", who may not be so "friendly" after all.

Go get'em, kids!

I bet the Butler did it!

Yup, the butler probably did it, especially if the "friend who was staying with the couple" was named "Butler". :-)

It's sounding like an inside job.

Corrupt FBI and DEA employees where using sleep deprivation and other tortures to punish a suspect that complained to the San Francisco Federal D.A. office about them stealing from him.

Puzzled?! Hmmmm...sounds more like a police detective's clever ploy (via possible statements made to investigative reporters) in order to get a suspect to develop a false sense of security so that they will become lax, complacent and eventually screw up and make a self incriminating statement or mistake. That's the way Colombo would do it! :Q

My guess is that: the hosts are, perhaps.. too gullible or trusting, didn't know their guest / friend as well as they should have and perhaps lent the key to their guest long enough for that person to make a copy. Once that was done, the guest may have given the key to an accomplice to be used at the best possible opportunity. The guest could have also made a wax cast of the key which only takes a few seconds. Sudden changes in effect, usually follow sudden (possible) changes in cause. For example: nothing is stolen from a place of business since it began ,say...10 years ago and then suddenly, 3 days after the hire of a new employee, something expensive turns up missing. Who would you suppose did it?

It's a shame that most apartment complex owners don't let you keep a dog! Most dogs are tolerant of guests as long as the host(s) is/are present and it appears to them that they are welcome by the host(s), but if that self same guest or a 3rd party accomplice enters the premises and is not accompanied by the host it could (and rightfully should) get ugly fast! WOOF!!

Just 4 fun: DOG <--(rear view emote of a dog sitting and guarding..look again);)

Was the friend staying there due to financial hardship? Do the owners plan to recoup a bunch of money from the insurance claim?
C'MON! There's 3 suspects right there MVPD. Don't say you have zero suspects. If you say that, you're either lying or you're incompetent.
