Man hurls statuettes at construction workers

Original post made on Jan 5, 2011

Police arrested a man on the morning of Jan. 3 following a complaint that he was throwing objects at a construction crew working in the apartment complex located at 333 Escuela Ave. Officers said they suspect the man of being under the influence of methamphetamine.

First this: "Police officers believed the substance to be methamphetamine."
Then this: "police do not know why the man decided to throw the objects"

Now, I'm no highly trained police officer, experienced in these sorts of matters, but I'm gonna venture a guess that he threw the objects because HE WAS ON METHAMPHETAMINE!
I don't think we need to think too hard to connect the dots here.

What does The Eye have to say about this? Is he on the case?

Hurling statuettes. What a dangerously surreal world we live in. Meth is disgusting. All drugs are, including pot and alcohol. I really don't understand the need to escape one's own mind. Life is life. Deal with it.

It may be casting a pretty wide net to say everyone who does drugs is trying to escape, in fact humans throughout our existence have always found ways to alter their consciousness as a mind expanding experience. Then again, others get what they need by pointing a finger at people and exclaiming what they are doing with their lives is wrong.
I'm going to enjoy a nice glass of port after dinner tonight and "deal with life" while I bask in the glow of self approval.

There can be a fine line between responsible consumption and uncontrolled addiction, and that goes for drugs, or alcohol.

Everyone picks their own poison, of course. However, its safe to say that if your choice of vice takes you to the point where you are hurling statuettes at complete strangers, getting into automobile accidents, or any other activity where you adversely affect the well being of innocent bystanders, you've crossed the line from acceptable to unacceptable behavior.

My goodness .... 333 Escuela ... the old Kulani Apartments ... since changed names ... probably more than once now. I lived in that place while i was going to college. It was a very nice place ... at least before the earthquake.

Brand new 2 BR 2 BA apartment for $270 a month back then. Now all those apartments seem to be flop houses for illegals and poor people with no jobs. Also, lots of Mountain View's crime seems to occur around there ... Escuela and Lathan around Rengstorff between El Camino and Central Expwy.
