Navy: Moffett's toxic vapors not our problem

Toxic fumes will continue to collect inside some of Moffett Field's buildings while the U.S. Navy and NASA disagree on who is responsible for the problem, the Environmental Protection Agency says.

I'd guess Mountain View has a legacy of toxic chemicals: I worked for Union Carbide Electronics in the late l960's, across the street was Fairchild Semiconductor, down the street were other electronics companies.
Union Carbide got cited at least once, I recall, for accidently releasing chemicals into the sewer.

TCE and other powerful solvents were used almost almost like water to clean residue from circuit boards. Rarely used rubber gloves and probably didn't have adequate ventilation.

The Navy, NASA, and EPA are all federal agencies spending your tax dollars. They should all sit down in a room and not come out until they decide how the problem will be fixed. The money is going to come out of your tax dollars anyway.
