Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony? Which holiday? The name of the holiday was not mentioned in the article. Maybe a typo.

It would just kill them to have to print "Christmas".
Merry Christmas everyone!

They call this event by three names:
1. Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration
2. Community Tree Lighting Celebration
3. Mountain View Tree Lighting Celebration
At least in #1 they acknowledge that there is some holiday associated with this tree and the celebration. Which holiday, we may never know.
In #2 they do away with any mention of holiday and attribute the presence of a huge lit tree in the plaza to "the community." Is the community only around in December? Why did they pick this particular month to light the community tree?
In #3 they forget the community and call it what it really is: The Big Old Tree Standing In Mountain View.

Who's the guy in the red suit anyway? And when they write, "Mountain View residents got into the spirit of the season," what spirit are they talking about and what season?
I'm so confused by this paper (again).

Which holidays, this time of year BESIDES Christmas, have the tradition of a lighted tree? I know Festivus uses and aluminum pole so its not that.
Do they light a "Holiday Menorah" somewhere in town? Maybe we should have a "Holiday Pinata" on May 5th?
Its called a Christmas tree, people light them up at to celebrate Christmas. All are invited to share in this inclussionary event of the city Christmas tree lighting.
I'm not ashamed of it, but apparently some in city gov't and the Voice are.
