This is a 1.2% cut, not much, compared to the decimation which has taken place in the general economy, and late at that.

I don't know if PAMF made any real efforts to cut layers of fat in the executive compensation and their benefits and also their 403b contributions before firing these employees. Did they even think about freezing salaries for the next few years?

I guess the details are always absent on news like this. I believe the execs decided that they can't take any less money and it has to be the firing of average employees. What this means is, the existing employees will need to addl responsibilities at the same pay.

We have been going to PAMF for years...more recently Camino Medical group. In speaking directly with the managed care department at Camino Medical it is clear that they are fuzzy on what is going on. Specifically they don't understand how to manage the joining of Palo Alto, Los Altos and Camino Medical group. If managed care doesn't understand it, you have to wonder how they are managing as a whole. It is disconcerting when a patient has a better understanding of HMOs than Camino medical's managed care dept. I am sure that this is a multifaceted issue, but, with Camino's current managed care dept it is not surprising that they are having financial issues.
