High Speed Rail vs. El Palo Alto

High Speed Rail was a boondoggle from the start. It's a rail line to no where. It is based on good intentions surrounded by heavy spin and backed with little real-world support. The schedule and budget projections boarder on criminal fraud.

Each new revelation further exposes HWR for what it is. The latest issue with HSR is the destruction of El Palo Alto, the 1,000 year old symbol and namesake of the city of Palo Alto and the symbol and mascot of Stanford University. The existing tracks near the tree would have to be widened for the HSR trains, so El Palo Alto would have to go.

No, they'll route the tracks around El Palo Alto. There's plenty of room there. The spokeswomman hinted at it in your link. Go find a better argument, and try not to insult San Francisco and LA next time.
