Man attempts to hit officer with car before fleeing

Original post made on Nov 3, 2010

Local police are looking for a man they say attempted to hit an officer with his car on Castro Street Saturday night. The driver fled the scene, ran multiple red lights and eventually crashed into a Sunnyvale home, before escaping on foot.

Was the car stolen or something that the police don't know his name? If you want our help then give us a better description and show us his photo...we might be able to help you out.

It was a pretty intense scene on Saturday night. I did not see the man holding the bottle of tequila but he was obviously inebriated and did not want to cooperate. I wish I had taken a picture of him so I could post it on the internet, but I was so shocked by his actions that I could only stand and stare.

I really hope they catch this idiot because we sure as hell do not need another jerk like him running around crashing into cars/people.

Also, kudos to the cop that had to deal with his drunk a** in downtown Mt. View. I don't know how the heck they do it...

"Wylie described the man as about 6 feet tall, in his 30s and weighing more than 200 pounds. She asks anyone with information on the case to call Mountain View police"

I bet we don't get a better description because our oh-so politically correct police department would never allow mentioning such important information as the guy's race.

Just to add a little more information to the article, and for "curious"..

The man was coming from the Monte Carlo club in downtown Mt. View. The club is primarily for latinos/hispanics and from what I could tell, the jerk who fled from the cops is Latino. Even though I was across the street, I could tell that he was not black, white, asian, etc..

I just don't understand why they can't figure out his identity if they have his car.. unless his car was stolen...

I hope the officer that he fled from will recognize him if he ever comes across him again.

Seems to me when there is a trouble spot like this so called night club has been, you shut it down. We don't need thugs, drunks, junkies, or gangbangers in Mountain View.

Well, I hope the two of you that said you saw all this happening when you were downtown contacted the police as the article requested to give a witness statement...it would help put this person (whoever he is...still haven't been given his name) away for more than a night in jail.

This is why we need to take the figurative handcuffs off the Police and let them do their jobs without fear of reprisal because they were not politically correct!! Our society has sunk to the bottom of the ocean with political correctness. That officer should have felt instant justification (and followed through) in making that POS comply (taser, baton, brute strength, etc) the second he turned his back on the Officer without being ordered to do so! Further, Police Officers put their life on the line daily for the public's safety, there are few too of them to always be able to respond to assist each other WHILE protecting the public, THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO STEP UP AND OFFER ASSISTANCE TO POLICE OFFICERS WHEN THEY NEED BACK UP!!!! The Police can't do it all themselves people, step in and help out!!!!

just clarify some rather insulting ignorance. I live next door to the house that got hit. the driver had 2 empty bottles of tequila in the car (patron silver for the interested). the police do know who he is, we were able to see a picture in the police computer from 20ish feet away, he appered to be African American. he was carring a loaded gun in the car and is a known criminal. he was driving a cl 500 Mercedes with wheels worth about $1200 a corner. so we can all assume what he had been wanted for before
