I smell rats. Where there is money involved, there is quid pro quo and corruption. There is no good will here, folks.

Natually, you smell rats....you ALWAYS smell rats!
Margaret Abe-Koga is a council person who listens to people. She has not been beholden to anyone. Businesses, unions, and city residents like her because she listens to them, thinks about the right thing to do once she has all the information, and then, and only then, does she make a decision. She is not all talk. She has been excellent on the council and I hope she gets the chance to do it again.

While legal, not sure is this bribery or corruption, or both. This is what turns people off the Democrats, and I generally support the Dems. There is this unholy alliance between the Dems and unions that is bankrupting our City, State and at the Federal level. Unions serve a valuable purpose but this type of support, while legal, looks like a payoff. Of course the Republicans receive support from Corporations to do their bidding.
No wounder the average Joe is angry and frustrated. It's just business as usual in Mountain View, Sacramento and Washington DC!

So put your vote in for Greg David.

Wish I knew this before submitting my ballot last week. Do I get a do-over? Why is this information revealed on Election Day 5 hours before the polls close?

One hand washes the other! Margaret Abe_Koga supports unions whose members retire after 30 years with a a pension in excess of $100,000 per annum. What private sector employee gets that kind of deal? Our union employees are bankrupting the city and state

Mountain view needs someone who can hold their own when negotiating with the unions, not someone who owe them.
The toughest challenge in the years ahead for the council is going to be cutting MV employees lofty compensation in order to balance the budget.
I dont' think Abe-Koga is going to be willing to do any of that.
My pick is Dan Waylonis, we need some fresh blood on the council

One does not "disperse" funds, one "disburses" them.
Abe-Koga and Bryant are the two best candidates in the race. Siegel panders to special interests, while David has no position at all on anything except that he'll operate by "common sense," a nebulous and meaningless term that can be defined any way one wants to define it. Waylonis and Jabbari have no grounding in the community, no background here and have only Google's interests at heart.

In response to Andrea Gemmet's dismissive comment:
I've been a MV resident for 17 years. I've participated in my neighborhood and homeowner's association (committees and President). I've been an avid reader of the MV-Voice and have written many letters. I've attended City Council meetings and even spoken up. I am participating in the community and am seeking to increase my involvement -- running for city council has been time-consuming (research, interviews, forums, canvassing) but also informative and enlightening. My campaign has been consistent from the beginning: Sustainable Budget, Sensible Growth, and Transparent Government. Please visit www.waylonis.org for more details.
And, everybody should know that as a council member, I would have to recuse myself from any discussion and voting directly pertaining to Google. There is no conflict of interest.

"Fiscally Responsible" nailed it. The marginally competent Abe-Koga is easily controlled by the unions much to their benefit.

There is something called conflict of interest. Abe-Koga should return the union contributions or recuse herself from any voting that concerns union contract or benefits and remain silent about the issue. Her blatant disregard to this simple rule of business ethics is particularly telling. Unfortunately, her brazen conduct contributes to her reelection by securing the votes of all city employees.

Dan Waylonis came on top of the 3 challengers and not too far from Siegel. I would say that's a pretty good result for a $500 campaign
Dan, please don't give up, you'll get them next time, your message resonates with the voters, we need fiscal sanity in MV and someone to control the unions before the average police officer / fire fighter clears the $300,000/ year mark and bankrupt the city which is likely to happen within 5 years with their guaranteed 5% a year raise
Margaret Abe-Koga 8,106 / 26.52%
Ronit Bryant () 6,893 / 22.55%
Jac Siegel () 6,338 / 20.73%
Daniel Brian Waylonis 3,993 / 13.06%
Greg David 3,183 / 10.41%
Aaron Jabbari 2,055 / 6.72%

She bought her way into another term...with hidden money from hiddeen sources because if yuou knew the truth, you wouldn't vote for her.
Remember this when you see all tose fancy big signs and glossy mailer she somehow could afford more than others...oh, I guess its because of her contributors. Too bad for the city.

Of course there will be Abe-Koga's payback to the unions. Gold plated contracts for city employees. Contract bidding that is skewed towards overpriced union labor etc. In the end the City of Mountain View and its residents will suffer economically from her pro-union bias.
