The whole Mountain view police force is working on thsi very feverishly to nab the culprit and recover $100. This may involve many hours of overtime and 10s of thousands of dollars. I am thinking this victim must be a high profile and high networth individual for this to appear as a newsitem in this newspaper. I don't condone stealing . SO don't jump on me, folks.

Sorry, folks...but this has to go down into the category of "Bloody stupid, got exactly what they deserved when they got robbed". Case closed. Not news, just the usual mundane stupidity, that deserves no fanfare. Move along, nothing to see here, I'm afraid.

I don't know what is more sad, that people break into someone else's home to steal, or that people like The Eye believe it's the victim's fault and not worth being concerned about, basically condoning the thief as normal and the victim as "bloody stupid". This isn't the biggest crime around, but that doesn't make it less a crime, and leaving a window unlocked is NOT an "invitation" to enter. Would this be more of a crime if the theif had used a portable saw to cut a hole in the wall, or a pry bar to open a locked window?

Note to MVPD: An 'Ongoing investigation' for $100? Just write the guy a check and be done with it, that would save us, the taxpayers, a lot of money.

Note to Rich: I think it would be more of a crime if the "thief had used a portable saw to cut a hole in the wall, or a pry bar to open a locked window". Clearly the person who entered by an unlocked window and took $100 did not have grandiose to clean the guy out.

Note to the victim: lock your windows and doors when you go out, this is not Mayberry RFD (if you don't get that reference google it)

I think some people are missing the point. Just because its only $100, you don't want the police to put any effort in nabbing the culprit? Let's hear what you have to say when the robber breaks into YOUR house next.

I understand why some people are overreacting to my comments. $100 is not a big money for the police to spend too much time but then I understand that this news serves as a warning to others. My point here is, I hope this didn't become a news because the guy who lost $100 is a big shot and is getting a preferential treatment from the police like the way the Police did when some Apple employee lost his iphone4. Because if some tom or Dick lost $100, police won't bother and MV VOice won't report that. I know that for sure.

Simple common sense rules inculde;
Don't leave a key in a car unless you want to lose it.
Don't leave windows or doors unlocked unless you want to lose things.

Mountain View has changed for the worse lately. People should be told that we now share the city with the Norteños (red color), #14
and the Sureños (blue color), #13.

Seems these punks are using the fast food restaurant theme. Order by number now. Until Mountain View decides to enforce immigration laws these things will continue to happen. That isn't a fix all but a darn good start.
