The little sidewalk parks. Put alot of benches out so when prop 19 passes, we all have a nice outdoor place to sit after indulging, while walking around in the back lots.

I would divide up the $10M equally among all of MV's citizens, giving them vouchers that could be spent downtown. And then let the businesses and customers, not the politicians, figure out what they want!

I would extend the 'feel' of downtown down Castro, the side streets and alleys. Then drop the speed limit on Castro between El Camino and Central to 20mph.

With $10M I would open up a new ice cream store on Castro St. and hire nice and efficient people to run it. It would make a killing.

We all have a chance to vote for the politicians. The point is that we give them the responsibility for making our city decisions.

If you have a problem with them doing it, run yourself! Or, if you don't like politicians at all, go move to Cuba - see if you like it better after a year there.

Hasn't downtown received enough money, there are many other areas of the City that need redevelopment and sprucing up. Drive down California and see the pockets of decay, San Antonio Shopping Center, and the Mtn. View portions of San Antonio Blvd. And I am sure there are many other small neighborhoods that have been neglected by the city for decades. Enough with downtown. How 'bout the rest of the city.

Invest it in gold in the hope that the city might be able to pay the outrageous pension debt it has boxed itself into.

what I want is reasonably cheap. More bike parking. Everywhere, at downtown, at san antonio, at costco, at charleston plaza and anywhere else with retail that I missed. We have lots of bike lanes that continue to be underutilized without the amount of bike parking which correlate which the amount of bikes traffic that would allow for real congestion relief and economic returns in investment of bike lanes in the first place.

Bike parking at Costco. LOL. Let me see, I'll just hitch this U-Haul trailer to my Schwinn to haul this 24-pack of mayonnaise tubs home.

Okay first, there are bike trailers along with cargo bikes that are available that can handle very sizable grocery trips and two, who needs that much mayonnaise? Plus, if others are using bike parking instead of car parking don't you benefit?

I would close down Castro Street just short of the railroad tracks, extend a little park across the street opposite the train station, and realign the intersection of Villa Street and Evelyn to allow through traffic from Evelyn to either make a left onto Castro, or to go through to Villa. This would cut down on a lot of the traffic congestion on Castro, and enhance safety without having to go to the expense of separating the railroad tracks from the roadway and sidewalk.

For safety reasons, I would put crosswalks in the middle of blocks on Villa between Shoreline and Calderon OR install NO JAY WALKING SIGNS mid-blocks, and perhaps some on Dana. I would divide the remainder of the money between Mountain View neighborhoods for necessary improvements and city enforcement of regulations upon shopping centers' owners to provide and maintain property (weeds, trash, etc.) surrounding their properties. Trying sharing the funding with the entire Mountain View communities not just downtown and make all MV residents happier.

Enough with Downtown. As another reader said there are a lot of neighborhoods in MTV that are below par. California st.between Shorline and Rengstroff is perfect example. Put some side parks or plant some trees in the middle of the road over there !!!

...There is already a grocery store downtown. There's the medium sized Chinese market, Mountain View Market, that actually has a good amount of non-Chinese stuff. I'd say help out their business and spruce it up (maybe through a grant or loan and some sort of small business advice), and encourage people to support local business over big chains like whole paycheck!

Another grocery store would take away business from great little local stores like California Market, Mountain View Market, Milk Pail, and Easy Foods.

Why not make vendors change the colors of their outdoor seating while changing out the street lights. Oh wait that's been done already. . .twice

I would spend $10 million downtown on a quality homeless shelter. It could serve as a safety net for City of Mountain View employees and displaced high-tech employees. Other Mountain View residents could apply as the economy makes apparent.
