Shut the corrupt HSR authority down. They only want to keep it going to get their paychecks and they'll lie about ridership as much as they can to keep those fat checks coming in. Our children and grandchildren will have to pay the tab through endless gov't money that will be needed to keep an underutilized HSR running.
THIS PLAN is a bust and only madmen will work to push a busted plan forward. I've reached a point in my life when I'm done following madmen.
it is very apparent that the 3 cities infested with some of the most notable filthy richest in this country don't want to see any of their space used for the good of the community. Another excess of capitalism and unchecked democracy and power of money over decency and public good. May be we need Chinese style autocracy to stop this arrogance

The concept of High Speed Rail is fine. What is not fine is the impact that HSR will have upon the cities through which it is planned to run. The HSR is in a rush to break ground by 2012 and has largely ignored the concerns of the cities, and their residents, along the proposed route. An elevated high speed rail line will generate noise pollution. pollution. It is sad, but not unexpected, that the Mountain View City Council has not joined the other cities opposing HSR's concept of full speed ahead - damn the torpedoes.
I'm glad that Mountain View hasn't joined in on these nimby lawsuits. It shows that we are more grounded than our hyperbolic neighbors.
I think Mountain View should be supporting its neighboring cities in rejecting the HSR.
Not because Mountain View should be against mass transit, and not because mass transit may have negative repercussions for the City.
I think Mountain View should reject HSR because this variant of mass transit lacks real participation by localities, a coherent plan, stable funding, or credible data that supports its viability.
Scratch off the veneer of what is currently being called High Speed Rail, and I see a runaway train.
