Persepolis is this year's Mountain View Reads Together book

Original post made by MV Library, Castro City, on Oct 4, 2010

The Mountain View Reads Together 2010 book is the critically acclaimed Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.

Satrapi’s poignant memoir is both personal and political. The author recounts her own childhood during a pivotal time in her country’s history, offering a child’s-eye view of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. She tells her story in a striking graphic novel format, where pictures are indeed as powerful as words.

Mountain View Reads Together is an annual, city-wide celebration of one book that takes place in November. The month-long program includes events for all ages that explore the themes of the book, including a Persian culture fair, film screening, and comic art contest. For details, check the library's website or phone the Reference Desk at 650 903-6337.

Mountain View Reads Together is presented by the City of Mountain View in collaboration with local organizations and community volunteers.
