About 60 residents had a rare opportunity to collectively imagine a major revamp of Rengstorff Park in Mountain View last Friday.

There were two meetings on this topic. It sounds like the Friday one was better attended than the Wednesday one which had 20 people and no requests for translation.

I hope parking issues are on the table. If more people are expected to enjoy the park, then don't forget to plan for all the cars and increased traffic.

One resident asked for better lighting for nighttime walks, but Sec 38.15 of the Muni Code says that no one may enter or remain in a city park later than 30 minutes after sunset. The only exception is to use the lighted tennis courts or attend authorize classes or meetings.

Outdoor movies in Rengstorff Park? Are you kidding? Rengstorff Park is ground zero for Mountain View gangs. Anyone who would go there after dark is playing Russian Roulette. This just shows how out of touch the MV council and especially the left-wing mayor are. They are all about composting, green energy, outdoor movies, and the Savvy Cellar. MV has a huge gang problem and all they care about is waterparks and recycling.

MV Resident - Shying away from improvements and community activities like movie nights because of local gang problems is exactly the wrong thing to do. Improvements will make the park better, and wholesome activities like movie nights featuring family-friendly films will only make it a much less desirable place for hoodlums to hangout.

Yes take back the Park, the other rebuild the Castro Home that was torn down in the 60s, you would have space to have small concerts, art shows, film events and social gatherings. A good BBQ and a cafe with a good tennis center and gym. When I lived in England the town I lived has Avery nice indoor pool with a nice little waterpark, it makes a little bit money, and was a great place to swim. A Rose and Flower center would be nice, A great playground would be great. Parks should be places to relax, gather, play and keep fit.
