This neighborhood has been plagued with similar break-ins. Do you know how they always find an open door? By going door to door posing as solicitors, but really checking to see if someone is home. They'll usually also have an partner with a car/truck and cell phone to alert
the door to door man. Its time to stop giving these door to door thieves the benefit of the doubt. We all have cameras we all have phones. Lets start photographing these door to door burglars and calling the police as soon as they are spotted. The cops can then to check them out for legitimacy. Time to take back the feeling of security in our homes with the help of the MV police dept.

How about we try locking our doors first?

Yes, after locking our doors, let's take pictures. If the suspect isn't doing anything wrong, no problem. If they are...we have a pretty picture

Sadly we do need cameras to help watch our belongings. Can't blame anyone but the home/apt dwellers for not taking steps, like locking doors. This is also a call for neighborhoods to get involved with citizen patrols.

Perhaps putting up "No Soliciting" signs will help.

Be real, if they're burglers looking for open doors and empty houses a sign is really not gonna intimidate.

Umm, I think we need to explain. The problem isn't solicitors, its burglars POSING as solicitors. Besides, the signs don't even work for actual solicitors so I expect the false solicitors won't be too discouraged either: "Hey, nobody is home and the window is open...DARN! they have a "No solicitor's" sign. I guess I'll move on"
No that won't work.

Also, to the poster who said "Just lock your doors", I do, but I'm also interested in helpng out my neighbor who might have forgotten to lock his. Just because the burglar moves on to another house doesn't mean he's gone.
