Google's growth spurt good for MV

Original post made on Sep 2, 2010

The growth spurt might be good for our town, but lets not pretend it affects employment. The acquired companies had employees. Now they are Google employees. Same number of people with jobs. Same number of people without jobs.

"Jane Penner, a Google representative, declined to comment on Google's acquisition strategy or how many employees the company has hired since the end of its second financial quarter, which ended June 30, but according to technology experts, Google's recent spree of acquisitions and hiring is aimed at growing the company beyond what its cash cow -- search-based advertising -- and into the realm of mobile technology and social networking."

This is one of the worst constructed "sentences" I've ever seen in print. It is bloody *embarrassing* to have our town's name on this publication.

Google, Intuit, and Microsoft have acted as typical uncaring corporate behemoths and have destroyed property values, driven up class sizes, and their rise has be accompanied by unprecedented corruption in the Mountain View-Whisman district and city attorney leadership.

The Shoreline Community should pay to make Mountain View whole, through the elementary school district.
