Co-op preschool will close without a new home

Original post made on Aug 12, 2010

A 56-year-old local co-op preschool may shut its doors forever if it cannot find a new home by next summer, as its lease with the local high school district is being cut short.

"Co-op preschool with close without a new home"

Didn't you mean "will close"?

Peninsula Daycare on San Antonio is closing it's door in June. Couldn't they use that space?

Does 450 additional students over the next 10 years mean an extra 45 students a year? I'm wondering what use that space would be used for since the preschool is over 200 feet away from the main campus. I do find it a little disconcerting that the preschool was expecting the lease to end in 2014, but that the MVLA district decided to exercise the right to end it early. I guess both parties knew of that provision entering into the contract...

OK, enough, let's be clear what this is here. The pre-school is clear on the other side of the property from any high school buildings, behind the parking lot.

"We need that space to accommodate students," said Barry Groves, district superintendent

They have not indicated what they intend to use that out-of-the-way space for, because what they really need are more parking space!!! It's an outrage.

An invaluable service to the community, and for our youngest generation, is being thrown out by the school district, against the lease no less, so they can have more parking spaces for the high school kids. And in this environmentally aware age! Carpool or take the bus for Pete's sake. The district should be encouraging the exact opposite behavior from what they are.

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck... It's a duck!

What kind of day care costs $100 a month?! $1900 - $3600 is just wrong.
