Teachers 're-energize' in the real world

Next year, when Marisa DaSilva's students ask her, in exasperation, how they will ==I ever== use the things she is teaching them in the real world, she'll have an answer. The Crittenden teacher is working at Hewlett Packard this summer as part of a fellowship program that pairs local teachers with high tech companies. Next year, DaSilva will pass on some of the real-world skills she has learned to her students.

With layoffs as high as they are and the applicant pool flooded, I cannot understand why anyone would want to become a teacher today.
