Pot club operator says he will run for City Council

Original post made on Jul 15, 2010

He may have lost a battle to sell medical marijuana in Mountain View, but Matt Lucero says he's been inspired to run for City Council this fall as a champion for the "blue collar, lower-class residents of Mountain View."

The last thing the city of Mountain View needs is to be run by a corrupt lawyer who is on a power-trip. He is very obnoxious and childish and thinks that he can "buy" his way into the city council. Please Mr. Lucero, we DON'T need you and we certainly do not need your drug money to help run this city.

Actually the city of mountain view needs to shaken up by this. The city of mountain view doesnt need drug money to run their city but we do need money for our schools, community programs and housing and many people in this community alone purchase medicinal marijuana and most of these people are hard working citzens. I think its time we get some of those simple minded arrogant city officals out of office and start electing regular people who know what its like to appreciate the value of a dollar. It's about time someone stepped up and took the time to think of the little people that actually make the City of Mountain VIew what it is today.

We need someone to shake up business-as-usual here. For years the city has been run by non elected city staff. Anyone attending council meetings has seen the process. Important issues are "analyzed" by staff, who submit their recommendations for rubber stamp approval. The current council is showing promising signs of independence, but overall city operations have a long way to go before they truly serve their masters, the citizens of Mountain View

OUTSTANDING! I agree with Steve in that we need someone to remind the council members who they work for, US! Council decisions are too often made with more "personal feelings" than facts. And there's way too much favortism within their inner-circle. I'm happy to know that someone with brains, financial backing and passion for the people will finally give them a run for their money. I look forward to learing more about your campaign Mr. Lucero, you have one potential vote in me.

Whether you agree with the current council, injecting drugs into city politics is not the answer. Despite Mr. Lucero's altruistic claims, there is no doubt in my mind that his true motivation is to open Buddy's Cannabis in Mountain View. It's offensive to use the "blue collar, lower class residents of Mountain View" as his smoke screen.

Mr. Lucero, if you are truly concerned about the welfare of the "lower class" residents, provide your talent, time, and financial assistance to any of the many charitable organizations that help Mountain View citizens everyday, rather than spending "whatever it takes" to buy your city council seat.

Mr. Lucero just might be what MV deserves for opening this can of worms.

Hey Mr. Lucero. I think you'd better run for County Criminal Judge or being a watchdog for County jails. How's about that? Hehe

It's about time to shake things up. I was never a fan of a City Council that didn't listen to the People that they work for.

Imagine 14 years after slavery was abolished...

Imagine 14 after segregation was outlawed...

Imagine 14 years after women were allowed the right to vote...

Imagine 14 years after our fellow Asian American citizens were informed that they were allowed to leave the concentration camps...

Imagine individual cities and individual municipalities impeding and blatantly ignoring the civil rights of all these people, 14 years after they were legally acknowledged...what would you do??

Today, there are countless physically and psychologically disabled patients all around us who can substantially benefit from utilizing the Cannabis plant.

We voted and passed the Compassionate Use Act eons ago in 1996.

Was it deplorable that Matt Lucero opened up a wellness center here in Mountain View after a moratorium was in place..or was it despicable that we forced him to close his doors and stop helping the hundreds and thousands of patients which considered him a godsend??

There are many nights where I cant sleep because I repeatedly think about patients and their loved ones circumstances.

Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer, Depression, Insomnia..the list consists of hundreds of ailments.

I am sure Matt is haunted by similar voices and feels helping these people is his ethical responsibility as a decent human being.

Once you facilitate in bettering sick and suffering patients lives, there is nothing else in the world that you would want to do more.

Peace be with you all.
