I'm delighted. The Madrigals, like the other MVHS musical groups (wonderful bands and vocal departments) deserve not only the praise they got for traveling overseas, but moreover the effort and responsibility they took on over expenses over which they had no control.
Thanks and congratulations! You guys are wonderful1 . Not only do you give credence to the term "musical excellence" you show total class as well!

I bought one of the Madrigals CD's at the MV Art and Wine couple of weeks ago, only $10, what a bargain, they are great!!!
Congrats on clearing the debt, maybe we should put them in charge of the MV budget.

$50,000.00 is a lot of money by any measure. I hope their was a full accounting. So far this seems like a black hole of mystery money. I would be more comfortable with a full accounting and transparency.

Congratulations to all involved. Madrigals stepped up to the plate and did a great job. Mountain View should be (and is) proud of you!

wow - no way a week in Paris should cost $50,000 for a group of high school kids (I travel there a lot and know the costs involved); someone obviously wasn't too concerned with keeping expenses down during the unexpected extension; should not be applauding this

hi jim: I believe that price also includes airfare back. Since volcanoes are out of the airlines control, I don't believe they allowed people to shift their existing tickets. At least, I really doubt they allowed nonrefundables to do so, which one would assume high school kids were traveling on.

As I recall, the group numbered 54 people stuck for a week in Paris. Factor out the cost per person for return airfare and it sounds like they did their best to keep expenses under control in a situation where prices were rising to take advantage of a captive audience.
