The other day after dropping off my kids at St. Francis High School I was traveling north on Grant Road. Between Bentley Square and El Camino, just across from the Shopping Center there are two benches at what used to be a bus stop. There were six (6) Mnt View Police cars blocking the right lane and crime scene tape about 50 feet on either side of the benches, blocking any pedestrians.
On one of the benches it looked like there was someone rolled up in a sleeping bag, with a back pack nearby. An empty shopping cart was about 20 feet away (may not be connected.)
Now I don't think that it would take 6 police cars and there would be no need for the yellow "caution" tape if it was just the "Let's move along, no sleeping" of a homeless person, so I can only conclude that someone died that night while sleeping on the bench.
The funny thing is, there is no mention of this incident on the "CrimeReports" website. Or in the printed Voice. I tried searching here, but if it is here, I can't figure out the correct keywords to find it. I'm not sure of the exact day, but I was pretty sure it was last week (May 24-28). So I was wondering if anyone else saw anything or read anything about it.
