In some cultures, that is how people express thier affection and love. In the facebook, twitter, blackberry, iphone age, some express their love by tweeting and sending text messages/emails even though they may be sitting right next to each other.

Excellent job, detective! Way to keep an "eye out for crime"! Nicely done!

I've always wondered why PD won't mention the officer's name. He/she should get credit for jumping in and averting a possibly dangerous situation!

I am sure that the department members know his or her name. I am sure the officer doesn't want his or her name published for privacy reason.

I am curious. Would this even be a story if a uniformed officer drove by, saw the assualt and jumped out of his patrol vehicle to assist the woman? Is this really news? Why does the police department feel a need to alert teh media about these trival dealings? More real news please.
