This is good news for our little products (I mean children). July 1st isn't soon enough. I just feel sorry for all the children in the programs he will be directing, not to mention the staff. Oh well, new hunting grounds I suppose.

What a relief. Let's see how long it takes him to dump the extra baggage.

It never amazes me that all these superintendents along with all the bureaucratic crap that shape our school and curriculum never actually go to classrooms to witness first hand what works and doesn't. These people only critique and make decisions just based on statistics.

I missed the part where he was qualified for the programs he will be responsible for other than juvenile hall. The ol'boy network at its best, but definitely a demotion.

So, just as people suspected all along, Continuous Improvement stuff was just to dress up his resume.
"Ghysels believes it helps teachers, students and parents set measurable and attainable goals."
Apparently it helps superintendents set goals too. I also would like to know what on his resume qualified him to run the these alternative schools, services and programs.

Just thinking that this guy will still be out there spewing his BS while inflating his ego makes me want to vomit. I feel for this kids in the programs he will no doubt try to force CI upon.

Interesting comments I found on SCCOE website in their news release on this topic:

Weis conducted on-site interviews with Mountain View Whisman board members, cabinet members, administrators, teachers and other staff, the PTA, district foundation and teacher leadership, and community members, among others.

"Every conversation had a consistent theme--Dr. Ghysels is a top-quality, visionary educator who puts the needs of students first," Weis said. "He has built a successful team at Mountain View Whisman that has consistently focused on continuous improvement and customer service. We are thrilled to be able to bring him to the County Office of Education."

It looks like 50% accuracy is considered "top-notch" in the SCCOE system. Perhaps Dr Ghysels might actually be able to obatain this goal. Oh wait a minute...he kept 0/2 of our children safe while they were at school that is 0%. He has a long way to go!

I am very thankful that we are getting closer to our goal of 100% MVWSD administration considering child safety a priority, well at least by SCCOE standards anyways.

Congratulations to all the amazing teachers and students in MVWSD!!!

Good Luck to Ghysels...and big "HEADS UP" to the parents of all the children he is responsible for keeping safe in his SCCOE position.

The people chosen by Weis to interview were all chosen by Ghysels. With hiring practices like that, no wonder CA public education is in the trash.

From the MERC

"Under his Mountain View Whisman contract, Ghysels was set to receive a salary of $187,531 in 2009-10. At his new job, he will make $164,000, plus a $4,000 annual stipend for his doctorate degree, according to the county office of education."

Still feeding at the trough at our expense...
