These suicides are out of control. This is a gruesome sight with yellow tarps up and down the tracks in plain view. This is no place for a high speed rail or even a slow speed rail. Fences and electronic gate should be put up around the stations to avoid this with cameras and laser trip wires that would cause engines to decelerate.

I have to say it was not fun walking up the tunnel ramp today with my kids and our bikes. Especially when one of the investigators yells to a collegue, "hey do you have any more of those yellow bags? There's another body part over here." That at least helped the kids figure out what happened rather quickly.

I do hold hope that the HSR project might help fix this problem. The current situation is far too convenient for severely depressed persons. The Caltrain corridor could really use the upgrade that HSR can provide. I wish people would stop fighting it and help get it done.

Fences and electric gate how are they going to pay for that? They are going broke as it is. The post above me shows everything that is wrong with people now a days. Lets put up fences, all sorts of dumb stuff and get those dangerous trains out of our community. Look at the big picture its not the trains that causes people to jump in front of them.

Caltrain doesn't have the budget for that, let alone the service they already provide. A few weeks ago they announced they'd be cutting the weekend service. You don't even know the entire situation, yet you are so quick to decide it was a suicide? There are so many who cross the tracks in that area on a daily basis, people with kids even.

Fences and electric gates, laser trip wires to cause trains to decelerate? money and cost aside trains just don't stop that fast. I hate to even suggest it, tongue in cheek, but why not just put a high tech airbag and net catching system on the front of the trains. Then we could charge the individuals and fine them for the associated costs.

The giant airbags would require proximity sensors that were only active at speed. At the very least the giant bag and net might contain the body and make the clean-up go faster and less traumatic for the passerby.

Engineers operate, conductors coordinate.
