MV city council comm. met Mon. on this with staff, 2 HSR-CalTrain, and about 5 or 6 members of the public. Check the city's web site to connect to two important local documents - how the alignment options would work, and a "HSR CCS Toolkit". These are also available at the Publics Works counter, 1st floor city hall (Sullivan).
Should MV have a mid-Peninsula station?
Big One. IMO it could be a yes if innovative land-use (air rights over the tracks and Central Expwy) are used for parking, transit and pedestrian mall over the Castro-Central intersection which is now a barrier to walkability.
Macias and Bryant were pretty concerned with 'elevated' track option across Shoreline and San Antonio. This would eliminate fly-over bridges over Central and replace them with signal-controlled "at grade" intersections!!! Bad for cross-town traffic in both directions!

I hope Macias and Bryant will continue to work toward grade level and better yet to find a way to make high speed rail underground in Mountain View.

I would like to get others to join me in working toward repeal of this proposition that authorized this unneeded project. We can get to LA now at 400 miles plus with outspending tax money, use the airlines.

You're missing the point. This HSR is supposed to be an alternative to airline travel, and it was already voted on by the citizens of this state. Not all flights to L.A. are at promotional rates, and HSR is set on offering a cheaper option for statewide travel.

I say Mountain View should lobby hard for a HSR station. Since Palo Alto has thumbed their nose at the idea, let's benefit from their fear of the new. HSR is coming to California, this is a fact. Let's not turn Mountain View into another Palo Alto, where even the smallest of projects takes years to complete due to endless bickering.

I wish it were possible to have a legitimate push for putting the train underground. Our city council dallied too long to make the HSR Authority pay attention to any protest of an elevated track. Maybe they were hoping in vain for a station, but that was naive.

You have the right idea. No amount of protest can stop the HSR - only repeal of the proposition can do that. An effort like that would take a lot of money to get it on the ballot.
