cash-strapped, Palo Alto? How many Billionaire and Millionaires in this city? The city council and the overpaid employees are draining the coffers. cronyism across the board and crooks are running the show. How will the city have any cash? They will let the developers do anything to keep their scheme going. They will start developing hotels in the middle of the bay or even let the rich people park their yachts and boats in Bayland and start doing all terrain vehicle tours in Baylands and perhaps allow hunting in Baylands. Greedy people are running all our cities and towns, now.

The comment by Kananku reflects a viewpoint that is both lacking in informed insight as well as ignorance based on simplistic perspective.
The truth is that all municipalities across the state are dealing with budget deficits leading to a cutback in services as well as the attendant loss of positions resulting in significant loss of jobs. The City of Palo Alto is no different with hard choices in dealing with the massive loss of revenue due to the current economic malaise.
City employees are paid a fair wage for the work that they are expected to accomlish with continued diminishing resources. Attendant with making tough decisions will come regretful layoffs and proposed cuts in pay. Some degree of empathy would be appropriate.
