Thanks for telling it like it is, Secretary Chu.
I don't know how many scientists and engineers are working on energy solutions worldwide, but I imagine there are actually MORE people working on the technology than there were on the Manhattan project during WW II.

I also applaud Secretary Chu.
We are already seeing the effects of global warming and it will get worse, even if we take steps starting now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But merely reducing the rate of increase of emissions (all we've done so far) is not enough. We must shift to electric vehicles to eliminate consumption of petroleum and other carbon-based fuels, and we must shift to solar and wind electric power generation to eliminate consumption of coal.
It may take 50 or 100 years to do that, but we must start now and I am afraid the tiny investments we are making in solar and wind are not enough.
