Thanks, M.E. I have worked at LLNL. There are far more engineers there than practicing scientists.
The gap seal and air dams have been used on race cars and other low-drag vehicles for many years. Why did we need a 10 year taxpayer-funded study by government employees and Lord knows how much wind tunnel time to understand this? Of course, one could also ask, if there is $10 B in savings or anything close to that, why haven't the truck manufactures and the transport companies implemented these simple changes?
