Lost hiker rescued by local Air Guard wing

Moffett-based Air National Guardsmen, recently back from Afghanistan, navigated their helicopter through mountainous terrain in dense fog to make the group's 908th rescue last weekend.

Great job - another life saved. I hope we send the bill of this rescue to the saved hiker now - if these hikers want to live in the wilderness, then live in there and don't burden the taxpayer for your adventures. Buy a satellite phone or something instead - and be responsible for your own actions.

Wow, that's a bit mean. Satellite phone -- wilderness, something wrong with that picture. Sometimes its the only respite one gets from all these gadgets we are enslaved to and can't seem to live without. What happened to just good ole hiking in the wilderness, novel idea?
