While I would normally see this as a positive, this is absolutely terrible news to me. I am not sure why, but the pilots from this group seem to love to fly their super loud helicopters right over the roof of my house just as my son has went to sleep. I don't know the rules, but I sure would love to know why they have to be so low all the way out by cuesta park.

Thanks to Dave for making this first post. It seems like the typical [portion removed] response when one considers that this country, i.e., us here in Mountain View, are at war. Our military needs to practice, and many or most of their missions are at night. Thus the fly-overs at bedtime.

Thanks also to Anna who seems to want to take credit for this federal agency to federal agency shuffle of dollars for the lease agreement. Perhaps there is a way for the 129th Air Wing to name an on-base restroom or other similar facility in her honor.

I do want to express my greatfulness that the 129th Air Rescue Wing will be here at Moffett and flying over us in Mountain View for a long, long time. We need military capabilities like this and we need to support their training, their families, and their missions. Their missions are our missions.

Sorry, but there is no need for a RESCUE wing to fly low over any private houses in a time of war or not, UNLESS doing a real rescue! They have too many bases to practice at already!

I'd guess you're the same type that always supports the President during war...unless they're a democrat!

Military spending should be cut back at least 50%, and redirected to support THIS nation's people...not building new nations via wars launched on lies.

Am delighted that the 129th Air Rescue Wing has a 'base' for the next 50 years. God bless ALL of the members of this outfit and the work they do. You're welcome to fly over my "private" house anytime.

I'm reminded of an element of our neighbors who've complained about train whistles and passing commercial aircraft being too loud. And, as folks have said over the years, GET A LIFE. PLease.

I support Dave. If you fly over this area, then you would see that there are a lot of flight paths to choose from and many which do not go directly over residential areas. There was a low flying military jet that zoomed my house last weekend and shook it up like an earthquake. I support our troops too but I think we should all try to be good neighbors in Mountain View and respect each others lives and missions.

Every time I hear a military jet in the sky I run outside to watch it go by. Awesome.

And I do support Barry O putting more might in the fight in Afghanistan. I hope he can get some things accomplished over there.

What a brilliant observation former Marine. Ever stop to think this is the same unit that plucked people from their rooftops during Hurricane Katrina. They fly day and night for training as you should know. If a commercial jet ever goes down or a mariner is ever in trouble in the Pacific these trained crewmen will be there to save lives. Let them fly day or night. There is pleny of waste in the govt, but this ain't it. And BTW they fly the pattern they do to avoid the commercial flight plans going in and out of SFO and SJC.

My comment was not on this Rescue team, it was on the military as a whole. But while on this topic, local Search and Rescue team are much more effective than national ones. We should support the effective groups, not the wasteful ones.

Do you recall why Katrina was so devastating? It was due to the military's incompetence and waste.

I think Katrina was so devastating because it was a very big storm, pushed a huge storm surge ahead of it, and it hit a city that was developed below sea level. Save yourself, guys.
