As I stated at the HSR meeting in PA
Construct the links between LA and Sac, SF and SAC.
Let Caltrain electrify the rail between Gilroy and SF
Provide HSR stations to connect lower speed current rail service via rail throughout California
Add HSR new rails as the cost/benefit come to reality if it does.
The need for HRS on the Peninsula is not required if the above is approved. Stop caltrain crying they need HSR, they do not.

Reality, if I recall correctly, the Proposition, as approved by the voters, dictates quite a bit about the route and where stops must be.

Cuz the country really needs HSR and we just have such huge surpluses to spend on it. As for the argument that we are investing for the future: It's like funding home improvements with credit card debt.

Caltrain supports Prop 1A and HSR because they also include a number of important improvements for local commuters such as converting the trains from oil/diesel to electricity and other modernizations. Some potential improvements here: Web Link
